When waste bins on streets turn into garbage dumps . . .

Urbaser Sumeet, the private waste clearance agency has been at its job for two months now. But it still has not been able to address issues that challenge such operations.

One among them is people treating street-placed bins as garbage dumps.

People either fling waste around bins or when the bins fill up, they dump the waste bags around them.

Here is a photo of this issue.

These are two bins located at the junction of Sullivan Street and Rosary Church Street in San Thome.  This is a quiet, dense residential area which means waste generation is high. Much of the waste dumped around the bins are old clothes, mats, garden vegetation and household waste.

Such scenes are common where residents treat waste bins areas as waste dumps.
