Diocesan youths prepare to reach out to virus-affected

Youths of the Catholic diocese of Madras-Mylapore are all set to roll out their services to the virus-affected from their operational base in San Thome’s Pastoral Centre off Kutchery Road.

They are primarily formed to support families of all the churches in the city. Youths of the local area parishes have signed up for this project.

Three teams are in the making. One to handle calls from the affected for medical care and support, for information and for personal reach-out. Two, to provide food and essentials to the affected. Three, to help families who lose their loved ones to Covid and need a smooth funeral.

Fr. Ronald Richard, head of the diocesan Youth Commission based in San Thome has curated this action plan which falls under the purview of the archbishop, Rev. George Antonysamy.

He says he and his team are awaiting the go-ahead from the Archbishop’s office to get into action.
