Today, May 5 is Chitrai Sadhayam, when Saivite saint poet Thirunavukarasar, popularly known as Appar attained mukthi.
On this occasion, there will be an abhisekam for Appar at 9.30am at Sri Valleeswarar Temple.
In the evening, there will be a procession of Appar inside the temple.
At Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, the Kattamadhu episode (presenting food to a hungry Appar) will be played out
this morning, while in the evening at 7.30pm, following the deepa aradhanai, there will be a Pushpa Pallakku procession of Appar inside the temple complex.
As part of the ongoing Vasantha utsavam for Singaravelar (Murugar), this evening will also see Singaravelar
in a procession inside the temple accompanied by Nagaswaram after the Appar procession..
Temples are off limits to the public but the gates are kept open.
