Only day in the year: annointing Kapaleeswarar with sandalwood paste

Even as the moon came out in full glory on this Vaikasi Pournami day on May 26, Sri Kapaleeswarar was anointed  with a special sandalwood paste. This is the only day in the year when the Lord is seen in a Santhana Kaappu.
Vaikasi Pournami is also one of the only two days in the year when Karpagambal is seen in a sandalwood
paste, the other occasion being the Pooram day in Aadi.
Of course, with the lockdown restrictions preventing devotees from entering the temple, this was a quiet event inside the two sannidhis with the Shivachariars devotionally decorating Kapaleeswarar and Karpagambal in a sandalwood paste alankaram.
