The annual feast of Our Lady of Guidance Church also known as saint Lazarus Church in R. A. Puram will be celebrated on the 15th of August.
Says Fr. Y. F. Bosco, the parish priest of the church, ”This year the celebration will be short and toned down due to the pandemic regulations in force.”
It will begin with the hoisting of the flag on the 13th of August at 6.15. p.m. Fr. M. Arulraj, rector and parish priest of San Thome Cathedral will be the celebrant. As this year is being observed as the Year of St. Joseph, all the Holy Masses will be based on both Mother Mary and on saint Joseph.
On the 14th, there will be a small procession within the church campus. The celebrant for this Mass is Fr. A.L. Antony Sebastian, Director, J. D. Academy, San Thome.
On the feast day, August 15, there will be HolY Masses held at 6.00 a.m, 7,30 a.m. 9.15 a.m. 10.30 a.m. and 5.15 p.m.
The 9.15 a.m Holy Mass will be in English and the 10.30 Holy Mass will be bilingual. All the other Masses will be in Tamil.
The flag will be lowered during the Mass at 5.15 p.m., to be celebrated by Rev Fr. E. Arulappa, rector & parish priest, Votive Shrine, Kilpauk.
After the Mass, there will be the release of a music CD of Christian songs – this has been produced to commemorate the 36th year of the priestly ordination of Fr. Y .F. Bosco. The music director is X. Paulraj and lyrics are by Joe Albert.
