Sale of traditional lamps

If  traditional lamps is on your shopping list, here is a sale to check out.

Poompuhar, the sales wing of the state-run Handicrafts Corporation has organised a sale of traditional brass lamps at C P Art Centre. Eldams Road, Alwarpet.

The sale is timed for the celebration of the deepam festival.

There are a variety of lamps on sale till November 30.

Best among them are 10″ and 8″ brass kuthuvilakku, hanging lamps, small lamps with motifs of Lakshmi, Ganesha and parrots and the kamatchi lamps.

There are also the Malabar styled lamps ( found in Kerala) and Navagraha lamps.

The special is the 9″ brass lamp in three levels with goddess Lakshmi. The other is the parrot motifs lamp.

Prices start at Rs.50. The costliest is pegged at Rs.4.23 lakhs.

There are also terracotta, stone and candle lamps.

A 10 percent discount is given. Open from 10 am to 8 pm.
