Obit: V. C. Srikumar, editor, The Law Weekly

  •  V. C. Srikumar, the editor of the famed The Law Weekly passed away on Nov.28 morning at his residence in Mylapore.
  • He took charge of this unique publication, a Mylapore icon in 1972.
  • This Weekly was founded in 1914 by late V. C. Seshachariar, a doyen of the Madras Bar. He was the proprietor-editor till his demise in 1936. After his demise, his son V.C. Vasudevan was in charge from 1937 till 1966. He also started another Journal called “The Law Weekly (Criminal)” in 1966.
  • After his demise in 1966 the journals are run by his sons V.C.Srikumar as the Editor from 1972 and V.C.Ramachandran as its Publisher.
  •  In 1984, this group started a separate journal for reporting judgements under the Writ Jurisdition , the Writ Law Reporter, a monthly.
  • It is our duty to acknowledge the help and patronage we have received in this matter from the Honourable Judges of the High Court and all the members of the Bar in our State.
  • To mark its 100th year, the team, now enriched by the young in this family launched its online operations with the Journal available on mobile phones, tablets and on the internet.
