Luz church starts fund raising campaign to help students

The parish priest of Our Lady of Light Church in Luz has launched its annual campaign to raise funds to support economically poor school children of this parish.
Said Fr Peter Thumma, rector and parish priest, “Our parish has, for the past 25 years supported the educational needs of the children of the parish from LKG to graduation, either partly or wholly. These efforts have been successful only because of the generosity of our parishioners and visitors to our Church.”

Last year, the church disbursed Rs 1,78,300 to 88 students.
The priest says, “All of us are going through a difficult time during this pandemic. Many have had salary cuts and even lost jobs. Most parents are struggling to pay the fees for their wards. We expect a bigger number, more than last year, of students who would require help during this time.”

  1. Noble gesture!!

But with many having lost jobs, will generosity be compromised?

I read so much about individuals and organisation needing funds for this and that!

I used to fund some environmental initiatives, animal folks who are genuinely needy and few small organisations fighting against domestic violence and child / elder abuse!

Now I have to choose the most needy or my favourite cause to fund!! But its extremely difficult with no income!!

Hope those who have scope to employ few people give them some temporary employment so that an income is gauranteed during this time.

Its not a good thing to make people perennially dependent and keeping them thinking they are poor!! They should not slump into laziness and easy food!!

Like the story where someone says they will not give bread but the means to earn the bread!!
