Vasant Utsav Dance Festival at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple starts May 1

Saraswathy Educational Cultural and  Charitable  Trust set up by Indira Garyali conducts annually, the Vasant Utsav Dance Festival in Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore; this has been on for last 18 years but had to break the past 2 years due to the pandemic.

It is back again this season, starting May 1 and goes on for 10 days, every evening.

The Utsav will be inaugurated by former TCS boss, S. Ramadorai.

Senior dancers  and teachers Nartaki Natraj, Anita Ratnam and Jigyasa Giri will be honoured. In addition, Vedic
scholars Ganesh and Venkataramanan Sharma and Shaivite scholar Ooran Adigalar will be honoured on day one.

The inauguration will be followed with the dance recital by the Binesh Mahadevan and his students.
The festival features performances by Kuchipudi Art Academy, Devaniya School of Kathak, Konark Academy
of Odissi besides Bharatnatyam by Nartaki Natraj and by students of Sasirekha Rammohan and others.

Open to all. Two recitals every evening, 6 p.m. onwards on most days.
