Food workshops – baking and cookery

For the baking and cooking enthusiasts, here are a few workshops in the offing:

  • Mumtaz Alam from San Thome is conducting cookery classes from August onwards. She will teach Vietnamese bites on Mondays, Malaysian rice and curries on Tuesdays, Chinese snacks and sauces on Wednesdays, Thai salads and sauces on Thursdays, Italian baked items on Fridays, and desserts on Saturdays. For more details, contact 9841427217 / 9940059217.

  • On August 7 and 8 at Alwarpet, Rajshree Arya and her son Piyush will conduct a baking workshop on French pastries. Around 12 desserts and eight starters will be taught, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At Boat Club Road, Alwarpet. Ph: 9962048088.
  • Sowmini Vibu of Tickling Treats conducts one-day workshops at R. A. Puram on how to bake buns and rolls. The techniques of kneading bread dough, shaping and baking it, along with the basics of handling an OTG or convection oven will also be explained. On the menu are vegetable stuffed buns, garlic pull-apart rolls, savoury pinwheels, and paneer pockets. The course fee is Rs. 1500 and only 4 participants will be taken in a batch.
