Corporation and RAPRA get together to prune avenue trees

Three members of R. A. Puram Residents’ Association (RAPRA), L. Arun, Suresh Alagiri, and Ravikumar got together on Nov. 5 to supervise a tree pruning operation in their area.

It was carried out over 12 days.

Suresh, the treasurer of the association, says, “We wanted to prune the trees before the monsoon to ensure that the dry or dead branches did not crash down during the rains. Also, the branches and leaves of many of the trees were obstructing the street lights. All the residents cooperated by shifting their vehicles to other areas to prevent damage due to fallen branches”.

He continues, “Over 150 trees on eight main streets, from First Main Road to Canal Bank Road and four cross streets from First Cross Street to Fourth Cross Street were pruned. The Corporation provided the equipment and machinery for the same. A supervisor from the Parks Department was with us throughout the operation”.
