It was the 26th of January 2011 that Rosary Matriculation Higher Secondary School celebrating its Diamond jubilee this year, decided to revive its alumni and to bring together its celebrated alumni for a fund raising event.

The Diamond Fancy Fete was inaugurated by Principal Sister Siriya Pushpam. Once the fun, the buzz and the colour of the fete rose and fell with the late January sun, the grand events of the evening unfolded.

The ‘UniverCell Pride of Chennai Awards’ were presented by the Rosary alumni to its most illustrious alumnus over the years. This year Justice Prabha Sridevan, Sheila Rani Chunkath senior IAS officer and dancer and writer Lakshmi Viswanathan were decorated with the awards (seen in the picture).

They were presented by Rev. Provincial Sister Cecilia.  This event also witnessed a Fun n Retro fashion show by senior celebrity alumni powered by Pothy’s brand of saris, the junior alumni paraded another range of saris from Pothys.

And there was a contemporary fusion dance by a budding doctors group called ‘Hrudaya’

The event concluded with a lucky draw, which had 60 gifts to mark the 60 years of the school, the top prize being a sparkling diamond ring sponsored by LKS Gold House.

The event came to a touching finale with the school song being rendered and a candle march to the music of Ragupathy Ragava Raja Ram, Gandhiji’s favourite song on India’s 61st Republic day. A bonfire marked the end of a memorable, eventful and evocative day.
