Churches to observe Maundy Thursday. Part of Holy Week services

The core part of Holy Week observed by Christians starts today in all local churches.

Today, April 17 is observed as Maundy Thursday and as part of the Holy Mass, the symbolic washing of the feet ceremony will be observed where the priest washes the feet of 12 people symbolising what Jesus did to his apostles in his last days.

At Our Lady of Visitation Church on St Mary’s Road, the feet of 12 differently-abled people will be washed symbolically by the priest at Holy Mass.

Adoration and reflection continues after the evening Mass in all churches and this runs into the midnight hour.
