Karur Vysya Bank has donated three battery-driven carts for use in temple zones, of which one will be used in the Sri Kapali Temple zone area of Mylapore.
The formal launch was held this Saturday morning in the presence of state minister Sekar Babu who is also in charge of HR&CE department, managing temples. Senior officers of the bank and Mylapore MLA, Dha Velu were also present.
It was announced that the cart can be used by senior citizens and the handicapped to get to the temple from the Mada Streets zone.
Incidentally, Sundaram Finance (SF) had donated similar carts to the temple to transport seniors and the aged to the temple a few years ago. They were used for some time and then, they ‘disappeared’. Temple officials then said there were no staff to operate them.
Recently, one of the SF-donated cars was seen inside the campus of Sri Karpagambal Kalyana Mantapam on Venkatesa Agraharam Street, Mylapore.
In and around Kapaleeswarar Temple on important days like Pradosham vehicles should not be allowed in East Tank Road and Ponambsla Vathiyar street. Instead battery operated cart can be used for Seniors for bringing them to TEMPLE.
