The gas-fired facility of the crematorium in Mylapore is closed now. A note from Chennai Corporation said that it will remain closed till May 30 to undergo repairs and upgrade.
The facility is located in Kailasapuram, behind the campus of the DGP Headquarters offices.
The facility has been closed for a week now and the GCC information was shared on Wednesday.
Burial facility is provided though.
People are advised to approach facilities in Triplicane or Besant Nagar for cremation now.
GCC is also cleaning the campus and intends to plant hundreds of saplings to ‘green’ this campus.
