If you were at this Wednesday evening Tamil play staged at Narada Gana Sabha you may have called it all ‘dialogues diarrhea’. Or, to be charitable to the artistes of the play, stand up comedy race challenging a record in the Limca Book.
At the ongoing Kodai Nataka Vizha hosted by Kartil Fine Arts, Guru Raghavendra Creations Rail Priya inaugurated its play ‘Varutha Padatha Vayodhikar Sangam’, ( Story, dialogues: Ananthu. Direction: Rail Venkat).
From the time the curtain went up at 7 p.m., the actors rumbled on at a furious pace, spicing them with loads of light humour, all located in the drawing room. A room where not only the family but neighbours too congregate to talk and talk and make people in the audience laugh.
The atmosphere in the hall was easy – rasikas are here to laugh away. and enjoy a summer’s evening They did, some freely, hungry for the light punch lines. But some lost the lines because they were delivered at break-neck speed which was a skill by itself.
But the Rail Priya troupe need not be apologetic – they promised clean fun and they managed to do that. At break neck speed. Never mind if silliness ran through.
