Obituary; Serugudi S. Sethuraman, active in religious affairs

Serugudi S Sethuraman (aged 73),  son of Swaminatha vadhyar (known as mottu vadhyar) passed away on May 21 evening at his residence on North Mada Street, Mylapore.

He had been a resident of Mylapore throughout his life.

He learnt the Vedas during his youth and worked for a PSU as an accounts officer.

He completed learning Yajur Veda from Prakash Kaushik. He was a Srividya Upasakar from Poornahamsa mandali.  He was actively involved in various religious activities in and around Mylapore. He was the treasurer for Mylapore Veda Adhyayana Sabha at Pitchu Pillai Street for several years.

He was one of the trustees of Mylai Maha Periyava Anusham Trust which has recently constructed Sri Maha Periyava Temple off Pitchu Pillai Street.

He conductedVeda parayanam at his residence during the Panguni festival. He formed a charitable trust in his mother’s name to promote education, art and culture.
