Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was a packed house on Thursday evening as people took every seat in the house to attend the release of a set of books of the works of late Crazy Mohan, a multi-faceted artiste best known for his plays, movie scripts, poetry and community work.
Alliance Publishers, Mylapore is the publisher of this set of books. These are scripts of Mohan’s plays, his columns and essays and articles in newspapers and magazines.
Actor Kamal Haasan was the chief guest and being so close to Mohan, the hosts like Mohan’s brother Madhu Balaji chose to wait for the actor to return from a course he was attending in the USA, for this books release.
Twenty five books were released.

Film persons K S Ravikumar and Jayaram were also on stage besides others.
Madhu Balaji traced the journey of the drama troupe Crazy Creations from the time it was a small player in the league of biggies in Tamil theatre to a stage where they did long tours of the USA.

He also credited senior artiste Kathadi Ramamurthy for leading them on in the troupe’s early days.
Two sets of these books are being given to many Homes for seniors across the state and a similar donation to school libraries.
Alliance’s Srinivasan said that they are approaching schools and college to buy and stock a set of these books. “Mohan’s humour is clean and can be read by any age group and is relevant even today,” he said.
Wellknown artist Keshav has created the images for the covers of all the books. He was felicitated at the event. Vocalist Gayathri Girsh was also recognised – she has popularised the venba ( poetic verses) Mohan wrote.
