Community donates veggies, fruits for finale of fest linked to agni nakshathram

The annual Anna Pavadai festival was held recently at Sri Sakthi Vinayagar Temple, Kesavaperumalpuram, Greenways Road, R A Puram.

This festival is observed on the conclusion of the agni nakshathram period of 25 days every year. This year, this period was from May 4 to 28.

During the hottest days, the presiding deity is kept cool by providing a constant shower of rose water ( panner dhara) from a Dhara Paathram hung above the deity which is refilled with panneer contributed by devotees 24/7.

To mark the conclusion  of this peak summer period, the deity is offered a spread of variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers offered by devotees and by local vendors.

The temple presents a veritable fruits and vegetables show with this decoration.

After the evening arathi, the fruits are offered as prasad to the people present. The vegetables are sent to charity homes for community cooking.
