A goodly number of people participated in the ther ( chariot) procession of the ongoing Vaikasi festival of Sri Veleeswarar Temple on Sunday morning.
Since it was a Sunday, the mada streets and R K Mutt Road were relatively less crowded and this enabled a smooth procession.
Many women took the lead to pull the chariot with the deity from outside the temple.
Earlier in the week, there was a large crowd participating in the procession of the silver rishabha vahanam; since it was held late in the evening. ( photo above)
The festival is on till June 12; thereafter the vidaiaatri fest begins – there are concerts here till June 22,
