Krishnaswamy Avenue, Luz resident Geetha Mahesh is at her wits end, with the local area sewage overflowing around her residence and polluting the area. She says her family has been facing this issue on and off for the past two years and now, it has become serious and persists.
“Because of the problem in the manhole in the road, my house is affected with the drainage outflow,” she writes. ” Despite our complaints to CMWSSB, the problem persists.”
Local area Metrowater staff have been telling Geetha that this problem is caused by the work on Chennai Metro project in the area.
“They tell us that Metro staff are using a motor to flush out sewage in their workspots and if that stops, the sewage overflows in our residential area,” she adds.
Geetha says that the sewage overflow could be because the old sewage pipeline for this area cannot handle the huge outflow from the number of apartment blocks that came up in the area over past years.
