Minister visits Sri Kapali Temple tank; discusses with state officials issues leading to parched zone inside

State minister Sekar Babu visited the tank of Sri Kapali Temple on July 29, Tuesday morning and discussed with officials. the current state of the tank which now has only a pool of water around the central mantapam.

Officials of  PWD, GCC and of Metrowater were present. The Mylapore MLA was also present.

The MLA, Dha Velu said that the PWD team has been asked to undertake soils tests and look at issues like clay composition and water retention while the GCC team has been asked to check the state of the four bore-well pumps sunk in the tank.

The Metrowater team has been asked to check the state of the SWDs that border the tank and lead into it to ensure rainwater is filtered and flows freely into the tank.

The MLA said that a decision will be taken in two weeks on what to do for the tank, after the action-taken reports are filed.
