QMC students clean up section of Marina beach. Rotary International District 3234 backed this effort

Rotary International District 3234 joined hands with over 500 college students from Queen Mary’s College to undertake a large-scale beach cleanup operation.
This event was held on the Marina at Foreshore Estate and it coincided with International Plastic Bag Free Day.
“It is encouraging to see young people showing such keen interest in environmental protection,” said Rotarian Vinod Saraogi, district governor, RI District 3234, who presided.
Dr. B. Uma Maheswari, principal of Queen Mary’s College, stated, “The event not only helped to clean our beach but also raised awareness about the harmful effects of plastic bags on our environment.”
The event was attended by Nandakumar, Inspector of Police, Foreshore Estate, who praised the environmental initiative.
Participants collected over 500 kilograms of waste, significantly improving the condition of the beach, said Rotarian Dr. K. P. Vijayakumar
