Rosary School’s Carnival: school’s well-wisher shares his experience

This is a note from K. R. Jambunathan of Kallukaran Street, Mylapore on the Carnival hosted by aluni of Rosary Matric School, San Thome in connection with school’s platinum jubilee . The event was held on July 26, Saturday.
Even though I am not an alumni of Rosary School, I have a close association with it –  by virtue of being the brother  of two sisters of whom one was a popular teacher in the school and the other was the first batch student to join Rosary in the year 1950.
I was there for the inaugural session on Saturday morning – VIP alumni like senior doctors  judges and journalists attended the function.
I was very proud when some of the  key guests on stage poke very highly of my sister Meenakshi Subramanian who was a teacher here; she passed away recently
The prayer session was touching and timely; verses from the Bhagavad Gita , the Quran and the Bible were read out . This shows the religious integration that Rosary has followed all years.
After the inauguration there was a cultural programme.
The many stalls on camous which reminded me of yesteryear fancy fetes that Rosary is famed for. The students of make colleges and boys schools used to eagerly wait for this event every year. But because of some unpleasant  developments the fete was stopped long ago.
Hats off to the core committee comprising Malini, Priya and Mathangi who all worked for over a year to make the carnival a grand success
