Scores of people joined priests on the banks of the tank of Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore to take part in rituals on the occasion of aadi amavasya, a day when Hindus remember the departed.
The busiest place was the west bank of the tank, its north end, which was left open. The space on the pavement here was also used for the rituals.
At one point in the past, the temple management discouraged the use of the tank space for these rituals and people spilled on to the busy R. K. Mutt Road to conduct them.
