Independence Day events in Mylapore zone: updates

Here are some more Independence Day events celebrated in the Mylapore zone; reports were shared by hosts.

<< The 79th Independence Day was celebrated at Srinivasa Apartments on North Road 2nd Street, Mandaveli, Padma Shri awardee Ramakrishnan, founder of Amar Seva Sangam, Ayikudi, Tenkasi, was the chief guest and hoisted the national flag. Children were invited to also speak; some sang patriotic songs. Gifts were distributed to children. ( first photo)

 << Solaiappan Street, Mylapore celebrated the day with the flag hoisting, said resident K.Seetharaman. The guests included sanitation workers of the area. Surya, (grandson of Nellai Jebamani), Gopalakrishnan, retired Indian Army person, J. Ramdas, ghatam vidwan among others. ( 2nd photo)

<< Nuns, hospital staff, nurses and nursing college students were present at the celebration hosted inside the St. Isabel’s Hospital campus on August 15 morning. Keeping to a tradition, a large thematic Rangoli was designed at the event venue. A snappy mime show was enacted. The editor of Nam Vazhvu magazine, Fr Rajasekaran was the guest here.

 

<< Raja Annamalaipuram Residents Association (RAPRA ) celebrated  Independence Day where TNPDCL Executive Engineer, A. Venkatesan, was the chief guest and he hoisted the tricolour. Srimayi, a twelfth standard school student rendered patriotic songs. Govindaraj, folk artiste, sang some folk songs to the accompaniment of thavil by Vediappan.

<< Residents of Tan Homes, D’Silva Road, off Luz Church Road marked the 79th Independence Day with the formal event and also made a special gesture of giving bedsheets and offering snacks to Urbaser Sumeet staff of this ward ( ward 123) , reported Kanthimathi Subramaniam. ( photo below)

The community of Rohini Gardens, R A Puram  celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day  by inviting Walid Bhai, a local area civic worker to hoist our national flag.  The event was attended by the president of the association,  Nellaiappan (senior advocate), secretary Dr. Arulselvam, and committee members Eugene Pinto and.
