The weekend was time for the annual 1008 poochoridhal event at Sri Mundagakanni Amman Temple in Mylapore.
An event that is part of the Aaadi season.
As is always the case, there was order and planning that went into this event – with rows and rows of baskets filled with a small set of fresh flowers kept on the floor of the temple in front of the image of the amman.
The women, and some men, then picked up their baskets and set off on a small procession through the streets in this zone, came back to the temple and the offering was made.
Well-planned, executed and lots of fervour and joy.
