‘Thayumanavar Thittam’ rolls out in R. A. Puram, Mandaveli, East Abiramapuram. Seniors get ration delivered at doorstep

Senior citizens have begun to get their monthly rations served to them at their door by the state civil supplies department under the state government’s Thayumanavar Thittam.

The service was reported to Mylapore Times from R. A. Puram residents a day ago and from the Raja Street, Mandaveli residents this evening.

Community activist Ganga Sridhar said on August 13 that a van stationed in Raja Street handed over rations locally. She shared photos of this service.

On August 14, Baskar Seshadri reported that he saw Civil Supplies staff distributing ration items in Visalakshi Thottam . Later, at the ration shop in East Abiramapuram, he says a van carrying the ration foodstuff was stationed on the street to prepare for the day’s delivery . This shop is in  Second Street, Abiramapuram .

Staff managing this service arrive in designated streets in a small van with the rations in packs, they make phone calls to the beneficiaries in each street that is covered and wait for seniors or their reps to pick up the ration.

Seniors who are 70 and plus can avail of this facility. Those who are eligible but  have not received rations at the door-step will have to visit the ration shop which serviced them and check out the process.
