Dancers, dance students and well wishers attended the first event to mark what is billed as ’75 years of the legend Chitra Visweswaran’; an event got up to mark a milestone of this famed Bharatanatyam dancer-teacher based in Alwarpet.

This was an exhibition themed ‘What Anchored Me, Let Me Fly’ which opened on Saturday, September 20 evening at Alliance Française, Nungambakkam. ( The exhibition will continue till Sept.28, day-long).
Conceived by Sukanya Ravindhar and Shreya Nagarajan Singh and curated by Bhooma Padmanabhan, the show traces Chithra’s journey through the decades, with some stark photographs from her albums.

Chithra’s bosom friend and celebrated senior dancer and teacher, Sudharani Raghupathy was present as were many dancers like Priya Murale, Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala, Sasisekha Raammohan and Shobana, dance students of Chidambaram Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) – founded by Chithra in 1975, along with her husband, R. Visweswaran and others.
