Dons of Mandaveli who are running businesses of. breaking bricks in public spaces in Mandaveli and were cleared out last month by Chennai Corporation, have become brazen and committed a more serious violation.
This morning, Mylapore Times witnessed a large bed of debris, stones and sand created inside the Buckingham Canal close to the pavements opposite the MRTS station where the brick breaking units operated.
It was evident that the Canal area was appropriated recently.
On one side, cattle were parked here and on the other, a few men were breaking bricks.
A week after the units were cleared from the pavements by GCC directed staff, the men behind the encroachment had dumped bricks in the same place and even built a temporary shrine.
The latest violation has been brought to the notice of GCC and Mylapore MLA, Dha Velu.
