5th Trust Cross Street in Mandavelipakkam is now renamed. It is S. V. Venkataraman Street. This is the street that radiates from the Ashoka pillar at one end.
On Friday, Sept.26 morning, chief minister M. K. Stalin did the honours by video-conferencing. Beside him was actor-politician S. Ve. Shekher; the street is named after his late father, a social worker, advertising professional and creative person. The family resides in the area.
Shekher’s family, the Mylapore MLA, local councillor and GCC staff were present locally, where the new street signboard was installed. Not many area residents participated.
