Following strong criticism against the GCC for dumping debris and stone waste on the Pattinapakkam beach to enable immersion of Vinayaka images last weekend, Mylapore MLA, Dha Velu personally oversaw the removal of the stones and debris waste dumped here and ensured retention of cleansed sand on this section of the beach.
Dozens of people posted critical comments on the violation. A Bench of the Green Tribunal also pulled up the GCC for these violations.
When this issue was taken to the MLA, Velu told Mylapore Times last week that he has got an assurance from GCC that the sands would be restored. He then made itr a point to oversee the ‘restoration’ work.
Now the sandy section looks fine.
