The community at CSI St. Thomas Tamil church in San Thome will celebrate the 167th anniversary of their church on October 18 and 19.
Rev Dr. Gnanavaram, former principal of TN Theological Seminary, Madurai will preside over the celebrations.
A few poor families from the city suburbs will be presented sewing machines and idly cookers to help them earn their livelihood.
There have been a few events in connection with the anniversary. A fireless cooking competition was held for the women of the parish.
Sports events for the youth, men and women have also been held.
The anniversary celebration is organised by the church pastor Rev. B. Devaprasad and the pastorate committee led by secretary Esther Jebaraj and treasurer Samuel Swamikkan.
