GCC engineers and senior officials and councillors of Zone 9 ( Teynampet zone) had a meeting at the GCC zonal office in Valluvar Kottam area, Nungambakkam and the focus of the discussions were on the monsoon preparedness in all wards of the zone, which covers most parts of Mylapore.
The meet took place on October 14.
The GCC ‘s zonal officer and executive engineer were also present.
Community activist C. R. Balaji of Mandaveli who was present at this meet zone said that he raised a few issues based on past experiences.
He said he highlighted the following areas that are prone to flooding – .P. S. Sivasami Salai, Luz Corner, San Thome High Road, old Mandaveli MTC bus terminus zone and Police Quarters opposite this campus and TTK Road-Greenways Road junction.

Balaji said he also told GCC staff that its local teams must pay attention to areas where Chennai Metro work is still on since works related to this project may affect flow of rainwater when the monsoon is severe.
