Lots and lots of marine vegetation and other waste is being washed up on the shore of the Marina beachside in Srinivasapuram, which lies at the mouth of Adyar river.
In the past 24 hours, the waste can be seen over a 1/2 kilometre stretch. Yesterday, locals reported that the waters were foamy, perhaps created by chemival or liquid waste flowing in the river.

Since waters from lakes and reservoirs around the city are being let out due to heavy inflows this monsoon, the waters let into Adyar river flow at a furious pace and sweep off vegetation that grows in and around the river.
Though many outlets into the river that used to illegally let out waste have been plugged, waste is often dumped on the river banks and this is thrown up on the Marina’s shore.
