This Mandaveli community gets together and wishes people with lit agal vilakkus

This year, on Deepavali  evening, men and women , senior citizens and children of Mandaveli’s Raja Street got together with agal vilakkus (terracota lamps) in their hands to greet their residents and the neighbourhood for Deepavali.

Strong winds and the intermittent showers did not deter their spirit and they continued to light each others lamps and greeted people.

On the eve of the festival, the community here arranged for goodies to be gifted to Urbaser Sumeet civic staff of the area, officials of state agencies, the postwoman and the police inspector  too.

Some 30+ people were honoured for the festival and the funds were pooled in by the residents.
