Shri Krishna Silambam, Mylapore (an alliance of Shri Bharatalaya) celebrated the 97th birth anniversary of late vidwan Madurai N. Krishnan.
This dance school was established by R. Sudhalakxmi in 2014. She is the granddaughter and disciple of Madurai N. Krishnan and a disciple of Prof . Sudharani Raghupathy; she is also a research scholar at the department of Vaishnavism, University of Madras.
The event was held at R. K. Swamy auditorium, Mylapore on October 11 evening. Indubala Ashok, a disciple of the late vidwan and a Chevalier awardee, was the special guest.
Students of Shri Krishna Silambam presented pieces from the late vidwan’s compositions. Vidwan Krishnan, a Mylaporean, was a disciple of maestro Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar. He was a Carnatic music vocalist, lyricist and composer and a Padma Bhushan awardee.
