The storm water drain civic work which was started a month ago in some parts of Alwarpet is nearing completion.
This project had necessitated the closure of TTK Road at the Kauvery Hospital signals junction and the traffic was diverted.
Chief minister M. K. Stalin had visited this spot, among others in the city, to inspect ongoing civic works to ensure they are completed before the monsoon breaks out.
Residents of Murrays Gate Road, Kasturi Ranga Road and around will be keen to see how well floodwaters drain into the new drains, for, in the recent past during monsoon, these areas have been badly flooded with waters entering bungalows and ground floor apartments.
