The Probus Club of Chennai celebrated Children’s Day at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Alwarpet.
There were cultural events, recognition of young achievers and honours presented to distinguished educators.
The event opened with a silambam performance by the Vaaththiyaar MGR Silambam Training Centre, Pattabiramam, led by Pon Vijayakumar’s team.

The dignitaries at this event included Dr. S. Uma Gowrie, principal, Ethiraj College for Women, Alexander Dodonov, vice consul & director, Russian House – Chennai, along with Dr. Ekaterina Kozlovskaya and Anastasia Lakhaeva of RUDN University.
Probus president M. Annadhurai said the club was committed to youth development. Past president R T Namasivayam was present.
The awards ceremony recognised outstanding young achievers across various categories.
Priyadarshini R received the Probus Excellence Award, Ragini D got the Probus All-Rounder Award, V. Mary, the Probus Best Sportsperson Award and V. Barkavi got the Probus Best Social Worker Award.
Headmaster T. Natanasabapathy was honoured with the Best Teacher Award.
Cash awards were also presented to top performers of the Chennai Schools (of GCC ) in the Std.X state Board examination.
Prizes were given to winners in contests held for children.
