Hindustani music fest is on at Narada Gana Sabha this weekend

A three-day festival of Hindustani music opened at the mini hall of Narada Gana Sabha, TTK Road, Alwarpet on Friday, Dec.19 with two concerts, featuring sishyas of greats like Kishori Amonkar and of a guru who studied under Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.

The 26th Swami Haridas Sangeet Samaroh fest is curated by city-based pandit Janardan Mitta and supported by Voora companies.

It  will feature two vocal concerts on Dec.20, starting at 5.30 p.m. and an awards event on Sunday, Dec.21 at 5 p.m. followed by a sarod concert and then, a vocal concert. Senior artistes will perform.

The concerts are open to all.

This is the only fest of Hindustani music featured during the  December Season. Its draws some 40/50 people for each concert and has been sustained due to the efforts of Janardan Mitta and his band of friends.
