R. A. Puram church youth host Christmas carols contest

Christmas carol music floated across the campus of Our Lady of Guidance Church in R. A. Puram last Sunday evening.

The church hosted the 29th edition of Chriscar, an inter- parish carols competition on December 7. Eleven choirs from city parishes participated.

The choirs took turns to perform on stage in the time given to each.  The carols were a mix of vintage and new.
The rolling trophy for best choir went to St. Mark’s Church, Adambakkam. This is their second consecutive win at the event. The first runner up was Holy Cross Church in T. Nagar while the second runner up was Annai Vailankanni Shrine, Besant Nagar.
The event was organised by Guidance Friends, the youth group of the parish led by its president Joaquim Arul Prakash.
Parish priest Fr. T. Anthony Raj and his assistant,  Fr Antony Jerald supported the event.
Funds raised for the Chriscar event are used to support the education of poor children, medical expenses of elders and welfare activities.
Contributions are made by members of this parish and well-wishers.
