Sundareswarar Street’s west end was flooded on December 16 morning after the heavy and sready spell of rain. The water stagnates on this street for some time and then drains off.
But since the water stagnates and rises outside the gates of Lady Sivaswami Ayyar Girls School, Mylapore it makes access to and from the school very difficult for schoolgirls, teachers and others.
The flooding in this area has been happening for many years at monsoontime; this despite laying new drains.
However, the rain water runs off in many core areas of Mylapore, even in narrow streets and lanes.
