Communities celebrate India’s 77th Republic Day

Community groups across Mylapore held events to mark India’s 77th Republic Day.

Children joined the elders at a snappy event held on Raja Street in Mandaveli. Senior women joined hands to unfurl the Indian flag by the street side. ( photo below)

In R. K. Nagar in R A Puram, community leaders encouraged children to attend the event which was held at the local area park. Children were given sun-shades in the tricolour as well as small Indian flags, while the area around the flagpole was decorated for the occasion. ( first photo)

The Kalyana Nagar Association in Mandavelipakkam held its event for Republic Day. The national flag was unfurled by association president Dr. S. M.Srinivasan and people present sang the national anthem. ( photo below)

The Republic Day event hosted by the community of CIT Colony in the local park started with the singing of devotional and national songs. The chief guest for the event, Justice Prabha Sridevan, retired HC judge, unfurled the national flag and spoke. Breakfast was served ; it was sponsored by  V  Sarangarajan of M/s Vishnoo Builders.  ( photo below)
