The Mylapore Club organised theTamil Nadu Open Snooker Tournament for juniors (under – 21) between January 9 and 11.
32 top players across the state, including four girls took part in the event.
The tournament was won by 17 year old Jabez Naveen Kumar, currently ranked No.2 in the state. Jabez was in excellent form throughout the tournament and beat Laxminarayanan 4-0 in a one sided final.
Laxminarayanan beat the reigning state junior champion, 14 year old Rahul Williams from Coimbatore, 3-2 in an exciting semi-final.
Three of the four girls who took part made it to the pre-quarterfinal stage.
Prize money was given to players from the quarterfinal stage.
Jabez took home the winners trophy and a cheque for ₹20,000.
Hemant Srivatsa, partner of Murray & Co., the main sponsor of this event and the committee members of The Mylapore Club gave away the prizes.
