MTC had Introduced a new bus service called Chennai Ula by which you can travel in a vintage bus and see and visit all the key landmarks of the city, including three in the Mylapore zone.
This is a Hop On – Hop Off bus facility by which you can get off at a particular landmark and explore it and then get into the next bus on this service; the buses on Chennai Ula follow a circular route.
This bus stops at Luz ( near Srinivasa Sastri Hall, at the Cathedral in San Thome and near the Light House too.
Starting from Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M. G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station, formerly called Madras Central this retro-fitted red bus covers all the key destinations. The Chennai Ula frequency is a bus every 30mins.
This route covers locations like Valluvar Kottam, Egmore railway station, Madras Museum, Madras High Court and Fort St George / Secretariat besides others.
The fare is Rs.50 and one can use the service to board and alight anywhere and is valid for the whole day.
The services are available from 10 am to 10 pm on state holidays and on weekends;
and on weekdays it is available from 4 to 10 p.m.
