The 2026 edition of the annual Sundaram Finance MYLAPORE FESTIVAL got off to its traditional start – a music concert, on January 8 morning inside Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore.
The students of music teacher Meenakshi Srinivasan of Mandaveli performed in the Navaratri mantapam from 7 a.m., for an hour.

In the 25 degrees chill that is prevailing in the city and mild sunshine, the music floated around the temple premises even as regulars streamed into the temple at that hour.
Concerts will be held here over the next three days of the Festival, by various groups, all youngsters.
Till two years ago, the Festival concerts were ‘mike-less’ and held inside the Nageswara Rao Park in Luz; they had to be shifted since the park is under renovation.
