Two residents of the Mylapore zone have been chosen for the nation’s Padma awards.
They are Veezhinathan Kamakoti for science and engineering ( photo below) and Thiruvarur Bakthavathsalam for performing art ( first photo).
They will be decorated with the Padma Shri awards.
Kamakoti, currently director of IIT – Madras is a resident of CIT Colony. And Bakthavathsalam , a senior Carnatic music vidwan and a mridangam artiste, resides just off The Music Academy.
