Pongal festival buzz was all over the campus of MGR Janaki College for Women in R A Puram on January 13. It was celebration time, away from lectures and classrooms.
Dressed for this occasion, students gathered in the open air to start the celebration with a procession, those in the lead, carrying articles needed for the traditional festival rituals they later carried out under trees.
Thereafter, groups of girls, attired in costumes, took turns to dance, to present a medley of folk dances even as the peppy music resounded across the campus and groups of students had some simple fun in the shade of the trees.
Pongal celebrations are held every year by this college.
