Avian fu case; dead crows seen in Mandaveli area

On Saturday morning ( Feb.7) , residents of Velayutham Raja Street in Mandaveli reported that at least five crows were seen dead on the street at various times.
The local Chennai Corporation officials were alerted. GCC staff and Urbaser civic workers cleared the dead crows and disinfected the area.
Residents sent out a note to all asking people not to touch the dead birds.
A giant peepul tree here is home to over a hundred or more crows.
On Sunday morning, residents noticed a few crows, looking sickly, dragging themselve to corners of streets or buildings.
Avian flu has been reported from many areas of the city the past week.
