With traffic diversions in place in Mylapore due to the ongoing Chennai Metro work project, heavy vehicles and MTC buses have been driving on roads and streets which actually cannot handle such movement.
Adding to this limitation is the reality of illegal bunks and encroachments on such busy roads which makes life difficult.
Take the case of the Venkatesa Agraharam road end that covers the bridge over the Buckingham Canal and which links to Dr Ranga Road’s east side.
MTC buses diverted on this route find it difficult to turn left and then right near the Nandalala temple campus junction. Because the left corner of the road end here is encroached on by autos and taxis which use as a parking lot. There is also an auto mechanic operating here.
Motorists who use this section daily say that Traffic Police and Chennai Metro officials must make an effort to clear encroachments in this area since its affect diverted buses / vans/ cars and autos.
